Kevin Long: MVP

Well Curtis Granderson and his revamped swing only had one hit in five ABs tonight, but it was a nice homer, and he hit a bunch of balls pretty darn well.

On top of working with Granderson, Long apparently worked with A-Rod this week to fix some issues with the power in his hips. Boom. Three home runs for Alex last night.

Seems everything Kevin Long touches turns to gold, no?

Some other notes:

Big props to Teix, who was a wizard in the field last night.

The pen did its job again. Joba has now thrown nine straight scoreless outings (8.2 innings). Logan, Robertson, and Mitre held em down as well.

Gardner’s got himself a mini-hot streak (5-for-15), and I’m really hoping he can capitalize on it. He’s so important to this team right now.

22 starts in for Phil. 14 wins. 3.94 ERA. 0 people complaining.

The Rays and Sox both won last night, so it’s still a 2 game lead and a 6 game lead. Tonight it’s Burnett going out to the hill for the Yanks, so things could get interesting. Stay tuned.
